#occupymybelly

I told Mr. Clean the title of my blog post this morning and he gave me a look which generally means "ok-I-love-you-and-that-might-be-funny-to-you-but-it's-not-really-all-that-funny," to which I threw back my head and laughed the "yup!-to-me-it-is-hilarious" laugh that my little brother loves to mock and told him I am attempting to become more socially relevant.

Here is a picture of me & my belly's occupant.  Perhaps I should have waited for my hair to dry before memorializing the moment for posterity.  Or not. This way is much more true to life...and at least this one has my head in it.

38 weeks...yup!  There's a big ol' baby in there!

The laundromat

I haven't spent time at a laundromat in years-not since college. But this morning I am on a bench, watching our comfortors tumble and turn, and reading a library book on my kindle.

We are blessed to have itty bitty stackable machines in our apartment to take care of our regular needs, but quilts are too much for their capacity.

After today we'll be ready for the cold months to come and for my mom's visit.

Additionally, the baby has recieved no less than three unsolicited belly rubs since I walked in the door. I am sure he appreciates them, even if his mother does not.

a nursery rhyme

Thanks, Mr. Clean!
It's super keen
To have baby's room all done

Now all we need
Is baby freed
From my belly (which weighs a ton).

I didn't take a picture of the changing table, but it's from the same series as the crib and dresser.

We'll still be adding a grouping of paper lanterns (unlit) in blues and greens in the corner over the rocking chair at some point, but until after our little guy makes an appearance, I think I'm done.

I'd be remiss if I didn't offer a huge thank you to Mr. Clean for putting all of the furniture together while I sat on the floor, fiddled around with twist ties and arranged piles of screws according to size (that's helping, right?).  We've hung on to this set since 2009 and almost given it up several times.  I'm glad we never followed through, because it's very cathartic to see it finally assembled!

And now, a brief moment of silence for our beautiful nursery-that-was-to-be back home, complete with the boxed up furniture.
r.i.p. nursery that was to be...you ended up exactly how I pictured you would turn out!
I am sure the current tenants and their kids are enjoying it, and that makes me happy.

Bellius Maximus [36 weeks] & 5 things to note from sonogram no. 3

This is the one and only "belly picture" that has been taken of me (sneaky-like by Mr. Clean, who knows I need one for the baby book).  I will probably have to have him take one some time soon also showing my face. :)

In other news, we had sonogram No. 3 yesterday and here is my list of 5 things to note from the experience.

5.  Baby was covering most of his face with his hand.
4.  He's got some seriously pouty little lips going on.
3.  The tech said he's got long legs and long fingers.
2.  His hair is long enough to show up on the monitor.
1.  Head down.  Hooray!

It sure feels good to have made it to full term status this week!  Now he can come whenever he likes...which is hopefully just before my mom gets here. :)

cross-cultural fajitas

It struck me the other day while making my favorite red and green fajitas that it's a bit ironic when I make my filling in my trusty and much adored wok (we don't currently have access to a grill). Authentic?  No.  Tasty?  Yup!

Maybe it cancels out the wok-iness of it all when I use extra jalapenos (which is always).
