suspiciously smiley

The hard thing about capturing a smile from the little one is that every time he notices the camera he gets veerrrry suspicious (he takes after his mother in that regard).

The other problem is that I am a rather incompetent photographer and always hit the button just a little too late.

 This one is better:

None of them amount to peanuts compared to the live show.  :D

= 66 books and is the number of pages I read last year (I only know this thanks to goodreads).

This year I am shooting for 75 books, not including re-reads of my good ol' favorites.  If you have any good recommendations, please feel free to pass them on!  Following the example of my big sister, I am hoping to expand my literary scope a bit this year and read a few things I wouldn't have otherwise chosen.

In other news, I have added making cookies to the growing list of things I can do one-and-a-half-handed (i.e. with my adorable baby boy riding along in the sling).   We are having our first snowfall today and it made me feel like baking.

Now for yet another baby photo.  It is so cute, it doesn't even matter that it is totally unrelated to this post. :)

weeks 3 & 4

It is hard to believe our little guy is a month old!

He's  doing a great job at all of this life stuff.  I keep telling him that someday his hands will cooperate with his brain.  For now they have a mind of their own.

He loves spending time with his absolute favorite person - Mr. Clean.  I am pretty sure that the feeling is mutual. :)

We had a nice low key Christmas and tried not to think too much of home and family far away (we failed, but at least we made the attempt).

And, with Mr. Clean back at work, the little guy and I are finding ways to get things done together.  We are both warming up to the sling, though I continue to be nervous and therefore overly vigilant about his head positioning and how far up the sling sits.  It will be less worrisome when he's able to hold his head up a little better.

So far, he's about halfway there!

With those cute chubby cheeks of his weighing him down, it's quite an accomplishment!
